Logan
Our son, Logan, was our first born—so precious, so perfect. We were thrilled when we became pregnant and even more excited as we anticipated meeting him. Logan arrived four weeks early, and weighed in at a healthy 7 pounds 2 oz. He has been a train-loving, social butterfly since before he could even walk.
Tuesday
You guessed right—there is a story behind her name. Rex had heard the name Tuesday Wells years before, when we’d been pregnant with Logan. Tuesday Wells was an actress from the 1960’s. He loved the uniqueness of the name and, well, he thought she was cute! When I was pregnant with Logan, Rex declared that IF I delivered a girl, and IF it was on a Tuesday, she would be called Tuesday. My reaction? Not a chance. Not even a one-in-a-million chance. I didn’t care if I delivered twin girls on a Tuesday, neither of them would be named Tuesday.
Little did I know that the future of our family would soon be called into question when Rex was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After frequent trips to the sperm bank before Rex’s surgery, we were confident we could add to our family when the time was right. We tossed the post-op instructions (does anyone really read those??) that said we should wait six weeks before being sexually active again and—SURPRISE!—two weeks after surgery, I was pregnant! Unfortunately, ten weeks into that pregnancy, I suffered a miscarriage.
Although the miscarriage was devastating, knowing we could GET pregnant without medical assistance gave us tremendous hope. Four months later, I became pregnant again! After the cancer, and the miscarriage (plus the fact that there are SIX wild grandsons on my side of the family, no girls), we were ecstatic when we found out we were having a GIRL! Putting all of that into perspective meant that it was more important to me to bring honor to my husband than to win the “name game,” so we named her Tuesday. Now the name suits her perfectly and no one can imagine calling her anything else.
